Buy a balcony door / patio door made to measure — indicative price at once

In Switzerland the balcony door is often called a patio door too: a turn or tilt-and-turn leaf that opens inwards. The balcony door shares profiles and glass with the window and adds what a door needs: blind panel below, glazing bars, frame extension, threshold. Minimum width 760 mm, maximum width 3000 mm, minimum height 1800 mm, maximum height 2500 mm.

Single or double leaf — with or without mullion

Every door needs an active leaf at least 760 mm wide. Single leaf: the simple solution for narrower openings, turn or tilt-and-turn. Double leaf with mullion: both leaves open independently, the centre mullion stays. Double leaf without mullion: the passive leaf locks onto the active leaf and the full width opens up. With two leaves, one is at least 760 mm wide; a narrower leaf opens as a turn leaf only.

Budget: uPVC, depth 70 mm, 5 chambers, Uf 1.3 W/(m²K), RC2. Mid-range: uPVC, depth 74 mm, 6 chambers, 2 sealing levels, Uf 1.2 W/(m²K). Premium: uPVC-aluminium, depth 93.5 mm, 7 chambers, 3 sealing levels, Uf 1.2 W/(m²K). Manufacturers: aluplast, Rehau, Schüco, VEKA, GEALAN, Kömmerling and Cortizo. Glass, panel and hardware with prices

Delivery across Switzerland — time and cost

Up to 12 products: usually 3–5 weeks. More than 12 products: up to 8 weeks. For special colours the delivery time extends by up to 2 weeks. Transport: CHF 270 for the first element, each further piece of the same type 30 % of that, at most CHF 1'500 per order, free from CHF 5'000 order value — kerbside, one tariff for all of Switzerland.

You get what you configure

The drawing is the production specification: sizes to the millimetre, opening type, glass, colour inside and outside. The indicative price includes 8.1 % VAT and every option; only transport is added. Warranty (T&C section 9): 5 years on profiles, insulating glass and window hardware, 2 years on door hardware and roller shutters.

Colours and decors

16 swatches: white, 10 decor foils such as Golden Oak, Nussbaum, Anthrazitgrau and Anthrazitgrau Glatt, 4 standard RAL shades. Outside decor +25 %, standard RAL +28 %; inside and outside separate.

Durable, because measurable

Minimum height 1800 mm as for every door you walk through; every size is checked against the system's limits. The systems state sound insulation up to 48 dB Rw and burglar resistance up to RC3 (manufacturer data); depths 70–93.5 mm, multi-chamber profile and triple glazing as standard.
